Plants have taken over the planet. In 2017, the vegetation in Tokyo rose up and toppled human society in moments. The few survivors are forced to live in the relative safety of a subway network, but supplies are running low. Join an average high school student named Akira as he challenges the plants in a struggle for survival!

No idea why this has a low rating but I thought it was great. Imagine the epic story Leviathan but instead of submerged monsters of the deep, the world is coated in lush greenery. The oxygen levels skyrocket thus plants and insects can grow to astronomically terrifying sizes. Which is worse? Giant spider or giant fish coming to eat you?! Both.

It’s a thrilling ride throughout with zero filler, so the plot does progress quite quickly. Art is good and has beautiful coloured art pieces littered throughout which can really take your breath away. The plot twists come at you hard going from fantasy action to sci-fi time travel tropes.

5/5 go enjoy it. The original Chainsaw Man manga, haha. You’ll know when you see it. -Surfa
