Pretty good on The World Is Full of Monsters Now, Therefor I Want to Live As I Wish
Ah well. Gotta give it to it. It's a RPG shonen done right, in its fundamental aspects. None of those cookie cutter applications of power sets: it employs many different and known power ideas, like shadow manipulation or inventory, but the actual way they are managed and the strategical planning in their use is leagues above the standard.
It's creative. It keeps pushing the power until it is used to the maximum rational extent of its potential. Above all, the inventory skill is incredibly versatile, and the class variation is commendable. I'd say it's a great example of the action formula, done splendidly both in power acquisition and balance: the fights are thought out, carefully planned and executed.
So we have that, and the dogs. Yes. Plural. Puppies everywhere. The real attraction here is the fluffy Shiba poofpaws. Momo best girl. Tsundere of the year.
Not much else other than that tho. Characterization is really generic. MC is a strange mix of an egoist man with mind-modifying skills that make him colder day after day, and... Kinda plain, overreacting neet. I like Natsu's character, on paper, but there isn't much to look at other than her premise. It's overall very indulgent in its japanese character tropes, and I kind resent that.
Art is generally fine, btw. Even with the childish character design.
And I'm not gonna ask what a salary man is doing with an harem of school girls tho. We are gonna stop before considering that. For my sanity, and your legal interests. Yes, I am expunging lines of "she smell good"s caliber from our collective memory. You are welcome. GODDAMNIT Japan... Can we not?
It's an 8+ on the Ivern Scale™️.
